About Title I

Family members gather in the Media Center.Schools earn Title I funding based on students' rate of participation in the free and reduced-price lunch program. The purpose of the Title I program is to improve student achievement particularly in the areas of reading and math. Title I schools use funds for additional personnel, technology, and additional teaching materials. Parental input is always welcome as we make decisions about how we spend Title I funds.  Please see the agenda from the 2022/23 Title I annual meeting by clicking here.

Title I schools seek to employ only teachers that are highly qualified in their assigned area. At Battlefield Elementary 100% of teachers and other staff are highly qualified. To see our latest "School Report Cards" click here.

Title I funds are also used to provide a Family Center, complete with resources that offer advice to parents to help children improve academically, as well as general parenting tips. Our Family Center is located in the Media Center and is open whenever students are here. Our Parent Involvement Coordinator is here each day 7:30 to 11:30. Be sure to stop in whenever you can. Volunteer opportunities are also available in the Family Center. You can view both the system and school Title I Parent and Family Engagement Plans by clicking here. Each year an agreement (Family-School Compact) is signed for each student by school administrators, the student's teachers, his or her parents or guardians, and the student. To view, a sample of this agreement click here.

If you have any questions about the Title I program at Battlefield Elementary you may email Dr. Kent McCrary, Principal, [email protected] or Andra Herpst, Title I Parent Coordinator, [email protected].
